The WAOE Mentoring Initiative

The mentoring initiative was begun as a suggestion from the July 2003 Annual Meeting. WAOE members are offering the use of their considerable background and experience to mentor other members who are new to the world of online education. The Online Educator Mentoring Committee, chaired by Nicholas Bowskill, has solicited member proposals for non-profit online education projects. A project team consists of three to five volunteer members who will work with the proposal to provide guidance, resources, and their expertise in developing online curriculum or advising in online facilitation.

The mentoring team continues to accept proposals from any WAOE members with a worthy project. If you are considering a proposal, click on the "Guide for Project Proposers" link at left to understand how to make a proposal and the process that will ensue if your initial query is accepted.

The WAOE Mentoring initiative also needs additional members who are willing to become mentors on some of these proposals. If you are willing to be a mentor, please join the "teampool." When you click the link it will create an email to add you to the "teampool" list. You need to do nothing to the email except click your send button.

The "teampool" list serves as the place to announce new project proposals, discuss them, and determine if we can help. It is also from that list that mentors are then solicited to participate in accepted projects based on their interests and expertise.
